bio
I would describe myself as a photographer and image-maker, with a strong desire to explore, as far as possible my chosen medium. My fascination for the scanner was born when I chose to 'use a flat-bed scanner as a camera' in a college project. From that moment on I was 'hooked'. The results are so immediate, but there is an excitement of never quite knowing what you are going to get.
I have experimented exhaustively and in my latest series "Stratification" I have endeavoured to capture the 'poetry' of movement. The images are abstract in nature, resembling imaginary strata. The 'Scannergrams' are put onto acrylic panels and primodise- anodised aluminium, giving them a whole new dimension.
I love to experiment and have recently developed an affection for Alternative Photographic Processes, including the cyanotype, vandyke, polaroid transfer and lift. I am drawn towards the unpredictable nature and imperfections of these processes. My next adventure will involve gum prints!
